12,853 TNI-Polri Personnel Ready to Secure Papua Regional Elections

Jayapura- Papua Regional Police deployed troops as part of preparations for Regional Election Security, at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters Field, Papua Regional Police, Saturday (24/8/2024) morning at around 09.00 WIT.

This roll call was carried out to ensure that the 2024 Papua Governor and Deputy Governor Election will run safely, smoothly and democratically.

Acting as the leader of the rally, Papua Police Regional Supervision Inspector (Irwasda), Kombes Pol Yosi Muhamartha, said that this operation was a form of Polri’s commitment to maintaining community security and consistency (kamtibmas) during the regional head election process.

“This aims to prevent security and public order disturbances that could hamper the implementation of the Papua gubernatorial election,” said Kombes Yosi.

He said the call for troops was an effort to check the final readiness of personnel and the facilities and infrastructure that would be used to support activities.

He hopes that community participation is very important in supporting the success of this Pilkada activity. The public is expected to actively report information related to potential security threats.

Shared awareness of security is the first step in creating a safe and comfortable atmosphere.

It is known that the personnel involved in the operation were 12,853 personnel consisting of 1,905 TNI personnel, 10,948 Polri personnel, and involving 13,647 linmas.
