Papua Regional Police Appreciates the Safe and Conducive Implementation of 2024 Pilkada Registration

Jayapura- The registration stage for Regional Head candidates in the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) at the Provincial, Regency and City levels in Papua Province as well as the three New Autonomous Regions (DOB), which took place from 27 to 29 August 2024, ran safely and smoothly .

Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Police Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.I.K expressed his appreciation to all elements of society for their contribution in maintaining stability during the registration process.

“The Papuan Regional Police as the Main Regional Police would like to express their thanks and appreciation to all elements of society. “Thanks to the cooperation and maturity of the community, the 2024 Pilkada registration process over the past three days was able to run safely and smoothly,” said Police Commissioner Benny, Saturday (31/8).

Apart from the community, Benny also appreciated the strong synergy between the TNI-Polri and other security partners, which succeeded in securing the initial stages of this democratic party.

“Thank you to the TNI-Polri officers and Kamtibmas partners who have synergized in maintaining security during the 2024 Pilkada registration stage,” he added.

Benny highlighted the increasingly mature political attitudes of the people in Papua and the three new autonomous regions in facing the simultaneous regional elections in 2024. According to him, the people were able to show political maturity when sending candidate pairs for Regional Head to register at the Provincial and Regency KPU offices.

“This good start must be continued at the next stage in the 2024 simultaneous regional elections. Let’s respect each other’s differences, prioritize togetherness, and remain polite in politics,” said Benny with the hope that the peaceful atmosphere can continue to be maintained.

Benny also emphasized that the TNI-Polri will continue to synergize with all components of society to maintain security during the 2024 regional elections in Papua and the 3 new autonomous regions.

“This responsibility is not only the responsibility of the security forces, but also of all parties—both officers, the community and stakeholders,” he stressed.
