Chairman of the Jayapura City Red and White Front Urges the Community to Maintain Unity Ahead of the Regional Election and Avoid Hoax Information

Jayapura, 6 September 2024 – Chairman of the Indonesian Red and White Front for Jayapura City, Niko Mauri, appealed to the people of Papua and Jayapura City not to be provoked by issues that are irresponsible and have the potential to divide national unity. He conveyed this appeal in an interview in Jayapura on Wednesday (4/9/2024).

Niko Mauri emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining security and order together with security forces, namely the National Police and TNI, especially ahead of the Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

“We appeal to the people in Papua, especially in Jayapura, not to be influenced by issues spread by certain irresponsible groups. We are facing a big agenda, namely the Pilkada,” he said.

He also emphasized that the Papuan people need to maintain calm so that the regional election process can take place according to the rules.

“We have to ensure that there are no groups that deliberately provoke or pit people against each other,” added Niko Mauri.

According to him, the presence of the TNI and Polri has provided a sense of security in Papua. Therefore, he hopes that the community will remain solid in maintaining a conducive situation so that the Pilkada can run peacefully.

“Papua is a land of peace. “We must join hands and maintain the situation, so that the regional elections can be held safely and we can elect leaders who are highly dedicated to developing Papua, especially Jayapura,” he stressed.

In a separate place, Head of the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Public Relations Task Force, Police Commissioner. Dr. Bayu Suseno, said that his party would also play an active role in securing the implementation of the regional elections, especially in areas that are often disturbed by Armed Criminal Groups (KKB) and Political Criminal Groups (KKP).

“Of course, the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force will provide security assistance to the Papua Regional Police so that this democratic party runs well and safely,” said Police Commissioner. Bayu Suseno.

He added that the participation of the community and leaders in Papua is very important to create a conducive security and social security situation.
