11 Years of Service Repaid with Poison in Lanny Jaya, Papua Mountains “Rest in Heaven, Brigpol Johan E. Sibarani”

Jayapura- Papua Mountains, especially Lanny Jaya Regency, is once again mourning the passing of one of the nation’s finest sons, Brigpol Johan E. Sibarani. After 11 years of dedication in serving the people of Lanny Jaya, his sincere devotion had to end tragically.

Brigpol Johan Sibarani, a police officer who had overseen regional development since before Lanny Jaya became a regency, was brutally shot by an armed criminal group (KKB) while at his home.

During his service, Johan Sibarani has witnessed significant changes in the region. From unpaved roads to increasingly developing infrastructure development, Brigpol Johan never backed down in maintaining security and supporting the progress of Lanny Jaya. However, the response he received was truly beyond the bounds of humanity.

The cruel actions of the KKB that killed him not only shocked his family and colleagues, but also the entire community who knew him as a dedicated figure.

The cruelty committed by the KKB increasingly shows that they are no longer acting in the name of the struggle for independence, but rather in real acts of terrorism.

These brutal actions do not reflect the spirit of freedom, but rather a destructive spirit that prides itself only when there are casualties from security forces such as the TNI and Polri.

The attack on Brigpol Johan Sibarani is a symbol of how inhumane the actions that continue to be carried out by this group are.

In the midst of the struggle to advance Papua and develop better infrastructure, the KKB chose the path of violence without considering what has been given by those who are fighting to build their land.

Reverend Izaac Samuel Kijne, an influential figure in Papua, once said, “Whoever serves in this land honestly will walk from one wonder to another.”

This message feels even more relevant when we see sacrifices like those made by Brigpol Johan. In the midst of efforts to build a better Papua, those who serve with honest hearts often have to face unreasonable threats and violence.

This incident reminds us that the struggle for security and peace in Papua is not over. May the passing of Brigpol Johan E. Sibarani be a reminder to us all of the importance of maintaining peace and rejecting all forms of terrorism that damage the social order.

Papua needs peace and development, not violence and destruction.

Farewell to the Best Son of the Nation
