Dogiyai Police Investigate Shooting by Unidentified Assailants

Jayapura– The Dogiyai Police are currently investigating a shooting incident involving unidentified individuals (OTK) targeting personnel at the Ikebo security post, located at the Kamuu Selatan junction in Dogiyai Regency.

The Head of Public Relations for the Papua Regional Police, Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom., confirmed the shooting incident.

According to Commissioner Prabowo, the incident occurred on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at around 11:00 AM local time (WIT), when three unidentified individuals were seen monitoring the area from in front of the Ikebo post.

“Shortly afterward, one of the individuals produced a firearm and fired a shot, hitting the front glass of the Ikebo post,” Commissioner Prabowo stated.

Following the shooting, the assailants fled on a motorcycle heading towards Mauwa.

“Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries from the shooting. The Dogiyai Police, in coordination with the Damai Cartenz 2024 Task Force, are currently pursuing the perpetrators towards Mauwa,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dogiyai Police Chief Commissioner Sarraju reported that joint patrols by military and police personnel are being conducted to prevent further incidents.
