Government Achievement in Curbing KKB Movement

Papua – Through joint operations between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri), the government has successfully thwarted several attempts by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) to launch attacks and spread fear in Papua Province. Firm actions such as the arrest of numerous KKB members and the seizure of illegal weapons serve as tangible evidence of the government’s commitment to suppress the criminal activities of this group.

This achievement is the result of collaborative efforts involving security forces, intelligence agencies, and active participation from the community in providing valuable information. Effective communication among the government, TNI, Polri, and the community is the key in facing the challenges posed by the KKB in Papua.

According to Minister of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto, controlling the KKB involves not only security aspects but also social, economic, and political dimensions. Solid collaboration among various parties is the key to success in addressing this threat.

Moreover, government efforts are complemented by a more proactive prevention approach, including intensifying socialization and education for the public about the dangers and consequences of involvement with the KKB.

“Rehabilitation and reintegration programs for KKB members willing to abandon criminal activities are also part of the government’s holistic strategy in addressing this issue,” said Hadi.

In addition, monitoring efforts on resources supporting the existence of KKB, such as the circulation of illegal weapons and funds used to finance their activities, are a crucial focus in narrowing the group’s maneuvering space.

“With a comprehensive approach and strong coordination, the government continues to strive to create a safe and peaceful environment for the people of Papua,” concluded Menko Polhukam.
