The Paniai Armed Criminal Group (KKB), led by Undius Kogoya, acted out by burning down a number of school buildings and kiosks and carrying out shootings on Tuesday/21/5/2024, in East Paniai District, Paniai Regency, Central Papua Province.

According to Police Commissioner Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, the incident started when 2 KKB people whose identities are still under investigation, came to one of the stalls owned by Arwin’s brother at 21:35 WIT, pretending to buy cigarettes.
“When KKB pretended to buy cigarettes, Arwin’s brother (kiosk owner) served him by giving him cigarettes but suddenly one of the 2 KKB people took out a firearm and shot. When the shooting occurred, the victim immediately ran into the house so the action occurred. was shot but was hit by a helmet on the wall of the house. and at that time, the two KKB ran away.” Said Police Commissioner Dr. Faizal Ramadhani.
Head of the Cartenz 2024 Peace Operation Public Relations Task Force, AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno, when confirmed, also said that, after the KKB shot civilians (kiosk owners), the KKB then continued its action by setting fire to a number of kiosk buildings and schools as well as conducting firefights with TNI-Polri officers.
“We can convey that, for a number of Kiosk buildings that were burned down by the KKB, data is still being collected by the Cartenz-2024 Peace Task Force and the Paniai Police, while for the school buildings that were burned down by the KKB, they are PAUD, SD and SMP YPPGI Kepas Kopo school buildings. , Paniai”. AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno, added, YPPGI Kepas Kopo Paniai PAUD, SD and SMP teachers and their families have been successfully detained by the Joint TNI-Polri officers and the Cartenz Peace Task Force at the Paniai Police Headquarters and 23 people have been recorded, namely 9 men and 10 women. and 4 small children.
