Puncak Police Investigate School Library Fire in Papua

Jayapura, Indonesia — The Puncak District Police are currently investigating a fire that destroyed the library building of the Bible School at the Mission Complex in Gikobak Village, Sinak District, Central Papua Province, on Monday, April 12th.

The Papua Regional Police’s Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, confirmed the incident in a phone interview, stating, “We have received a report from the Puncak Police Chief regarding the fire at the Bible School’s library building in the Sinak District.”

He added that the Puncak Police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

“We urge residents to remain calm and not to be swayed by unverified information spread by irresponsible parties,” Commissioner Prabowo advised.

Puncak Police Chief, Commissioner Nyoman, mentioned that his team is currently coordinating with the Sinak Police, under whose jurisdiction the incident falls, to gather information from local residents about the fire. “We will support the Sinak Police in their investigation,” he added.

The police have also coordinated with local government officials and community leaders to discuss the situation, ensuring that it does not escalate and disrupt public security in the area.
